Confessions Of A Teenage Lady

I feel like I have to share this particular issue that is very sensitive to me. No pictures will be included because just writing about it is difficult enough. But I want to. Don't know why. What am I rambling about? Teenage-hormone-blaring-skin.

I am one of those girls who's been battling with skin problem since puberty. It goes on and off. At times my skin may be flawless, at times it would be bad. Trust me, I've tried all the tricks in the book, so many different products and petua but if it decides to come out, there's nothing much I can do. I've always had oily skin. You can fry an egg with the amount of oil I produce.

Even my scalp gets oily real fast too. Despite using scalp oil control shampoo, I still need to wash my hair on a daily basis. What can I say, I'm just good at producing oil! Anyways, back to my skin. I didn't know how BAD was bad until recently when I had my worst breakout ever.

It all happened very suddenly when I had chicken pox. It was mainly hormone-driven because after the very bad breakout, I would get my period the following week. Being on TV, I had so much at stake. During the very bad times, not many close ups of me were taken during WHI as it seemed obvious on screen. This went on for about one and a half months before I decided I needed medical intervention.

The dermatologist was about to prescribe a medication that could guarantee problem-free skin within weeks but it is not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding ladies. I could've decided to wean Raees and take the medication. As desperate as I may have been, I was not ready to wean my boy. So I was prescribed antibiotics instead, which made healing a little slower.

When treating skin problem, it gets bad before it gets better. The first month on antibiotic prescribed, it didn't seem to show any difference. No amount of make up was able to cover up what was going on at the surface of my skin. I had to hold on to my dignity and face the world as confident as possible.

By the 6th week, just in time for an important job, my skin showed vast improvement. Although the scars were still there, I could easily hide them with make up. Now 3 months on my treatment, I can safely say I am happy with my skin. Scars are almost gone. Although there are occasional minor breakouts, those are pretty much manageable.

I may not be struggling with weight, but God is fair. Nobody is perfect and there's always a kekurangan in each and every one of us. Now you know what mine is.

I know I said I'm not gonna post any pictures but I changed my mind. Here's an 'after' picture and you can keep on imagining how the 'before' looked like.

hey irin..if u say u r an 'oil factory', count me in too.u can of course seek a dermatologist expertise to curb those oily days off. but if u're budget constricted like me, just do your own homemade remedy..again..there r 1001 petua org2 tua out there..u just have to choose those that suits u best..try blending tomato, apple, and cucumber for a start.drink the juice as frequent as u wish.
then, of course, avoid oily food.u can also grate (sagat) cucumber, then lumur on your face.leave it to dry, then rinse.believe me..it really work on me (another walking 'oil factory'), and it might work on u 2, dear..=)

Dun worry ur skin look flawless...Chantique!! I think penjagaan muka sangat penting dari usia muda lagi. I regret it coz now, I'm in my late 30's baru la nampak effect xmenjaga muka dulu:-(

yep, dun worry... org yg oily skin ni awet muda tau irin. mine is oily too and mmg geram sgt2 tapi bila fikir2 balik lebih baik oily drp kering kusam kan. so walaupun nex year akan turn 30 tapi we wont look 30, kan ^_^

Nur: drinking tomato apple and cucumber helps? Really? Most important for me is..sedap ke? Hehe. grating cucumber can try coz doesn't require consumption :D thanks for the tips!

Posh: flawless? Thanks but kalau tgk close up lain kot. Yeah I jaga dari dulu but sbb too oily, still problem jugak.

Fasha: haa that I know. The wrinkles don't come so easily they say :D 30?? I don't wanna think of that figure yet. Still enjoying my 20s!

Irin..sedap ke x tomato+timun? hehe..mana ada ubat yg sedap..but in this case, u have d privilege to add sugar to your own tastebuds.blend then tapis amik air jer.well of course with a little sugar added.ble wat on everyday basic or once in a while.
yg bout cucumber sagat tuh.easy jer.nk rs sejuk2 kat muka, taruk dlm fridge dulu.if cucumber juicy, sagat sket da cukup.lumur kat muka mcm skrub.leave to dry.rinse.
oily makeups pon will add to the oily face gak..

me too an oil factory. and the on and off breakouts tu jgn citer lah. its neverending T_T
but your skin looks good now.. within 3 months tu u makan antibotic je la eh?

IRIN PUTRI said...

nur: again, thank for the tips! belum sempat nak try lagi but i sure will!

rara: yeah..frustrating kan?? 3 months on antibiotic plus day and night cream prescribed by doc.

May i ask something?
What treatment did u get from DEMC Specialist Hospital & how much does it cost?
i'm thinking to go there to see the dermatologist.
i got acne problems too just like you.
it gets worse day by day.

IRIN PUTRI said...

all i did was take antibiotics for about 3 months. it helped alright but i wouldn't say it lasts. after acne under control, get other treatment at some klinik pakar. or easier, go straight to them.
