The night before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Raees decided to sleep at 1.30am. Thought he was gonna wake up slightly later so that us parents can get ready with our nicely prepared raya attire. But noooo..he decided to wake up at 7.45am.
So I bathed him and put on his raya attire first before getting myself ready...
Everyone else was at the mosque for Raya prayers, except for me. I was stuck babysitting. At the same time I had to get myself ready for Hari Raya too! So what did I do to keep Raees occupied in a safe environment where he couldn't accidentally hurt himself? I let him hang out in his crib and put on his favourite Sesame Street DVD.
By 10.30am, we were all set to go to my mother in law's place in USJ. Look at my boy in his full Raya gear...
Here's the story about his kopiah - my parents bought it for his aqiqah many, many months ago. Of course it couldn't fit him...until now! But Raees doesn't like wearing anything on his head (thus no more hats for him). We had to create a destraction while putting the kopiah on him. Only that way we could get the kopiah to stay for more than a second.
Being sleep-deprived, he would usually nap again in the morning. But there was no time for that during Raya. So he got as much sleep as he can while on the way from Shah Alam to USJ.
Raees usually falls asleep after milk or via the stroller. That day we decided not to bring the stroller since we thought of going back home soon after. What a big mistake that was. Sleepy boy Raees refused to sleep on his own nor with the help of milk. He was restless but not cranky (not yet).
But we had to go to my relative's house this time...in Kampung Pandan. Mer decided we should go there straight (so much for going home soon after!). He drove slow and steady in the trafficjam-free KL road. Made a couple of stops to buy food to munch in the car. All these to let Raees sleep.
In all, he got about an hour of nap. Better than nothing, I thought. As it turns out, the nap didn't help much. As we reached my aunt's place, he was at his crankiest!
That night, we went to Mer's sister's place. Raees loved the fire crackers! Despite his exhaustion, he was very jovial.
Notice, the kopiah is back on? By this time he didn't even care. I guess it's the presence of his cousins plus sleep-deprive.
So there you have it...our first day of Hari Raya. A lot more interesting (and challenging) as compared to previous years but a whole lotta fun.
Selamat Hari Raya from me, Mer and Mr. Raees :)
