My Boy

My darling Raees,

Mommy and daddy were happiest people in the world on the day you were born. We couldn't wait to bring you home to start a new chapter in our lives.

A day after you were delivered, mommy had an allergy that caused itchiness at parts of my body. Mommy had to take 2 allergy jabs and it hurt! The jab made mommy sleepy though. Good thing the itchiness went away the next day.

Mommy's doctor allowed mommy to go home on Thursday but your doctor came with news - you had jaundice. You needed to go through phototherapy where they put you under the light.

It would break our hearts to go home to an empty crib, without hearing your cries. Mommy and daddy decided to stay at the hospital to be near you. At least mommy is around to feed you when you get hungry, right Raees? :)

We hoped you didn't have to stay at the hospital for too long. But now it has been 2 extra nights and your jaundice level is still not satisfying.

Get well soon, my darling.

The Day You Came In To Our Lives

Baby boy,

Mommy and daddy could hardly sleep the night before we had to go to the hospital. We're finally gonna meet you!

We got there around 9.30am and was brought in to the labour room. The nice nurse gave mommy medication around 10.50am to start labour.

Mommy didn't feel much at first and watched quite a number of movies. One movie that mommy watched was Wall-E. I'm sure you were also entertained in there :)

By 6pm, mommy start to feel pain but still tolerable. Close to 8pm, pain was more intense and came around 1 min apart, that mommy used Lamaze breathing to help cope.

At 10.10pm, after mommy went to the loo, the water that you've been swimming in broke! Doctor checked and said mommy dilated 2cm! At this time, mommy thought you were coming out soon. But doctor said you'll be out the next morning.

By midnight, mommy couldn't stand it anymore because there was a long way to go. To help mommy sleep and save energy to push you out, mommy asked the doctor to put the pain away by giving mommy an epidural.

Phew! Finally mommy can sleep. You know baby boy, mommy haven't been able to sleep well for so many nights because mommy was anxiously waiting for you.

Around 9am, doctor said you're ready to come out. Yay!!

You were suppose to look down but instead you were facing upwards. I guess you prefer to explore the world right away rather than stare at the labour room floor. Mommy tried pushing you out anyway but after 1 hour doctor said he has to help mommy bring you out using a vacuum.

Exactly 10.12am - you were born!

Mommy couldn't believe after months of seeing your movements through my belly, you are now on my chest as the nurses clean you up. And when you let out that wonderful first cry, mommy couldn't help but cry along with you.

You're finally here, Raees Aryan...

I'm A Mom

It's so surreal...

I'm still trying to digest this life-changing experience...

I'm still at the hospital at the moment. Hope to be able to bring home my 3.24kg bundle of joy tomorrow. I shall write about this soon.

In the mean time, read about it TRIPLETS plus ONE :)

Off To Become A Mom

Baby boy,

We gave you one week free stay and looks like you're still not ready to come out. Enjoying your swim in there I suppose (not like there's much space left).

That's you at 3 months old. You were so tiny!

Sorry baby boy, time is up.

Daddy will bring us to the hospital first thing tomorrow morning and the nice doctor will give mommy some medication to get you to come out.

Mommy's scared, baby boy...

But the excitement of finally meeting you tomorrow surpasses everything else. I wonder how you look like. Do you have more of mommy or daddy's features?

From the 3D scan taken 3 months ago it looked like you have mommy's nose. You even opened your eyes to pose. Clever boy :) We'll compare with the 3D scan once you're born k?

In the mean time, mommy and daddy are busy preparing for our trip to the hospital and to welcome you to the world.

See you soon, baby boy.

Spiritual Approach

*sigh* It has been 5 long days for me. I feel like I'm already in confinement since I've hardly been out of the house for the past few weeks. I received quite a number of calls, text messages and messages via FB asking somewhat similar questions...

According to my mom, I was also an overdue baby. I came out after she got some spiritual assistance - in a form of a drink - from my aunt. Doesn't hurt to try, no? Lets hope it works on me too.

Have a blessed Ramadan and do pray for me and my baby's well being. Thank you :)

I'm Booked!

Although I've been staying in Shah Alam for the last 4 years, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail will always be my playground. I became a TTDI resident ever since I was born and stayed there until I landed my first job as a broadcast journalist at TV3. Many wonderful memories were created of my childhood and teenage days.

As an adult, new memories were created in Bkt. Jelutong, Shah Alam. A week after moving in, I got engaged :)

You can read about it in this 2005 post.

However when my pregnancy test came out positive, I came running back to TTDI in search for an OBGYN.

One reason is because it's close to my office. Also, I know this particular clinic has been around since forever (it's located behind my old house), so the doctor should be good.

I'm glad we made the right choice :)

After 9 months of check ups, Mer and me went for the final appointment today. I'm 3 days overdue and as mentioned earlier, I need to be induced at 41 weeks.

So ladies and gentlemen, I'm officially booked for induction!

Baby boy,

Be a good baby and come out before Monday k? If not the doctor would have to force you out. Kesian mommy...

From Mommy To Baby

Baby boy,

You're having so much fun playing in there aren't you? If you think the umbilical cord is fun, well you haven't seen what mommy and daddy have prepared for you out here. Just look at your comfortable crib and the colourful toys that are waiting for you.

Are you practicing swallowing? No wonder you're frequently having hiccups. Enjoy the taste of chocolate and ice cream while you can because it will be many, many months before you're able to taste them for real.

Daddy says, transform and roll out! Too bad you're too young for a Transformers toy. When you're big enough, daddy will buy lots of Transformers toys so you and daddy can play together. Wouldn't that be fun, baby boy? :)

Mommy and daddy are anxious, excited and really looking forward to holding you in our arms. Come out soon, baby boy.

Wardrobe Transform And Roll Out

Over the last 9 months my choices of attire have become less and less with each inch of growing belly.

There were no problems in the first trimester. I could practically wear anything. Various tops and pants were put to good use while I was busy at work...

My favourite I miss them so dearly

Heck, I could even fit in a cheongsam

Soon those tops started showing off the belly...

...and not long after that I failed to put the buttons on.

The skinny jeans also gave way to the growing belly and off to the store I went for a pair of preggers' jeans...

By 6 months I had to say see ya later to more than 3/4 of my wardrobe. Attempts to wear "normal" casual clothes were restricted at home.

Although some still looked presentable to be worn outside...

Oh, how I can't wait to get back in shape! I miss dressing up and soon I get to play dress up with my baby. Now that's something to look forward to, eh? :)

I really2 hope it won't be difficult for me to transform from this... this...

Oh yeah, I'm officially overdue.

Today's The Day?

"Your due date is 16 Aug 2009"

That was what my OBGYN told us on our first appointment late last year. Since then I've been counting down as any other expecting moms would.

However this isn't how I expected 16 Aug to be like. I'm still killing time at home waiting for that first contraction to come around. I've been playing games a lot til I've become an expert and got bored with it...

Currently playing a game that is a bit more challenging, so I guess this will keep me occupied for the next few days...

Baby, baby..please come out soon. Mommy and daddy can't wait to see you!

Thursday, August 13, 2009

I've been on stand by for almost 2 weeks and there's still no sign of labor, not even a false alarm. As the due date reaches, I'm getting more and more restless and uncomfortable. I've even considered induced labor if my baby boy doesn't want to come out by the due date.

Plus, fasting month is fast approaching. It would be convenient for everyone if I am home with the baby when fasting starts, without having to go back and forth to the hospital.

However after thinking things through, I feel that induced labor for the sake of convenience, timing and just because I'm tired of waiting, is not right.

Doctor says induction is a must if I'm 1 week overdue. So what's one more week of waiting compared to the 40 weeks I've been through?

The Day After

As sad as it was to suddenly lose Paris Jr, life goes on.

One way to cheer things up (and taking advantage before the confinement begins), Mer brought me out for a nice lunch...

Is this yummy or what?

Lets take a look inside my mushroom swiss burger...

Believe it or not, I finished the whole thing by myself (even the fries) AND had 3 refills of ice lemon tea. Too full for dessert though.

RIP Paris Jr.

Just a few days back I mentioned about Paris Jr, the adorable but most stubborn of all my cats. This morning I found her sleeping in the cathouse with her mouth slightly opened and thought nothing of it. It's not until a few hours later I see her in the exact position and took a closer look.

She wasn't breathing.

Who knows what caused her sudden demise...and just few weeks short of her 2nd birthday.

For those who didn't know Paris's a lil bit about her:

Paris Jr. - About a week old

She was definitely the cutest of all 5 kittens born that day

She was the only one who had her mother's colours

18 Oct 2008 - her own litter arrived

And today she was laid to rest at the corner of our house, while her son, Snowy looked upon.

Her brother, Harry, wasn't far. He was the only one who sticked around throughout the burial.

When Paris Jr. was buried, he came closer.

Harry being the male of the cathouse has always been such a gentleman and showed love and respect to all the females. Although there were no tears, his actions portray much emotion.
