My Tapir Story on M3

Twenty Questions: How Do I Know If I'm A Workaholic?

I got this from Syu's blog and thought I should give it a try. Lets see how workaholic I am...

Do you get more excited about your work than about family or anything else?
Sometimes...sorry babe :)

Are there times when you can charge through your work and other times when you can't?
Yes - I have my ups and downs.

Do you take work with you to bed? On weekends? On vacation?
100% yes on weekends

Is work the activity you like to do best and talk about most?
I enjoy my work because it's interesting and I tend to talk a lot about it. So the answer is yes.

Do you work more than 40 hours a week?
I work more than 50 hours per week.

Do you turn your hobbies into money-making ventures?
My hobbies are felines and bowling. So nope.

Do you take complete responsibility for the outcome of your work efforts?
Of course. I'm involved from the planning stages upto the final story you people see on TV.

Have your family or friends given up expecting you on time?
Err...I arrange my schedule in advance so this doesn't happen.

Do you take on extra work because you are concerned that it won't otherwise get done?
Yessss...sometimes to get things done right, you have to do it yourself.

Do you underestimate how long a project will take and then rush to complete it?
I'm pretty good at estimating but sometimes situations are out of our control and causes unexpected delays.

Do you believe that it is okay to work long hours if you love what you are doing?
If that is required to get the job done, why not?

Do you get impatient with people who have other priorities besides work?
If their priorities involve family then it's fine. Other than that, is unacceptable.

Are you afraid that if you don't work hard you will lose your job or be a failure?
Nope. You don't work hard, but work smart ;)

Is the future a constant worry for you even when things are going very well?
I don't worry too much. It will cause unnecessary stress. Just go with the flow.

Do you do things energetically and competitively including play?
Competitive yes...energetically? Depends on the situation.

Do you get irritated when people ask you to stop doing your work in order to do something else?
If I'm chasing a dateline then who wouldn't be irritated?!

Have your long hours hurt your family or other relationships?
So far everyone's been very supportive especially my Mer...although I leave him behind quite often.

Do you think about your work while driving, falling asleep or when others are talking?
Lets put it this way..I think about work most of the time. We even talk about work a lot. Heck, I write a lot about it in this blog too..hehe!

Do you work or read during meals?
I usually watch TV during meals, even at work. There are TV sets every corner I turn.

Do you believe that more money will solve the other problems in your life?
I'm going against the cliche. Like it or not, money buys happiness. Come on, how happy can you be if you struggle to buy food? Financial stability is the key :)

If you answer "yes" to three or more of these questions you may be a workaholic. Relax. You are not alone.

I guess it's kind of obvious that I am a workaholic. Ah well, at least I am one happy workaholic ;)

International Kites In Our Sky

Another story of mine scheduled to be aired this Saturday night. This time around it's about freakishly-fancy kites! You'll be able to see a whole lot of 'em on the show. Very interesting ;)

Just look at them!

I did this feature a few weeks back in conjuction with the International Kite Festival at Pasir Gudang Johor. There were hundreds of kite flyers from all over the world. Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Lebanon, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, England, Africa...just to name a few.

We featured the French team though. Imagine, they brought 200kg worth of kites for this event! Madness! And there's just something about the french accent that's quite sexy. But they don't look as sexy..hehe!

Interview with the french team leader, Philippe

On the last day, we checked out from the hotel and went to the location. As we attempted to park, the unexpected happened...

Our van wouldn't start :(

While our pilot was at the workshop to get it fixed, the cameraman and me proceed with the shoot. It turns out the alternator was broken and they couldn't find the spare part that suits this NEW van. Imagine we had to drive back to KL that very day!

They fully charged the battery and we drove back to KL at 5pm with the aircond switched OFF. Wasn't comfortable I tell you. We switched on the lights at night time but it slowly went dim, although the van was still drivable.

We reached Damansara toll around 8.30pm and that was when the van decided to call it quits. It stalled at the toll booth. Phew! Good thing we were only 1-2 km away from the office. Called our transport department to come rescue us and that was the end of our journey.

My Special Report: Malaysian Army Aviation

I couldn't hold back my excitement when this particular story was aired. Guess it's because it's my first 1-hour special report.

I've linked the video for the whole episode, divided into 4 parts. Do let me know what you think. The videos can also be viewed at TV3's Catch Up TV.
