Alicia Keys is coming to town!!

After months of wondering whether Boyz II Men is coming over to our country or not, then Alicia Keys decides to drop by. It's ALICIA KEYS y'all! Yeaaaaah!! I'm so happy :D What a wonderful birthday present especially if I get those front row tickets *hint*hint* Hahaha! Even better if I get to meet her in person, but what are the odds of that happening? I hope the odds are on my side :D

I'm so excited that I forgot to elaborate more on the concert. Well, as written in The Star, tentatively she'll be performing at Merdeka Stadium on 1st October. As for now, that the most I can elaborate :P

How embarrassing!

Went to Mid Valley with Idaura to accompany her shopping. Since I've spent quite a lot this week, I didn't bring a lot of cash along for fear of accidentally spending it :D So I brought just enough for lunch and movie tickets.

Looks like I didn't budget correctly. I bought movie tickets for tomorrow and when it was time to pay I realised that I was a buck short. I had to ask the ticket counter person to hold my tickets while I called Idaura (who was at the Nike shop) for an RM1 loan. Phew..Idaura to the rescue!

I ended up withdrawing a bit more cash after that for backup and I managed to keep myself from spending on those beautiful, beautiful clothes *drools*

Another hooray for the Mega Sale!

I've been out shopping again today :D Before that Idaura and me collected our convo stage photos at the photo shop. There were 4 sizes with 4 different posts.
  1. Largest - receiving the e-scroll.
  2. Large - shaking hands with Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah
  3. Medium - walking after receiving the e-scroll
  4. Small - still walking off the stage
Remember I mentioned that I tried glancing over at Mer after receiving my scroll? The camera caught that..hehe! Both pictures saw me looking over to my right. Oh well, at least I was looking at Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah in the eye with a smile on my face when I shook hands with her and received my e-scroll :D

After that we spent over 2 hours at OU and got myself this top that I've been eyeing for months! :D :D I also got myself a new book :) Shopping really puts a smile on a girl's face eh? :D

Hooray for the mega sale!

Phew..what a day! This afternoon I went to OU and Pyramid with Idaura to do some window shopping. Later in the evening, I met Lady Lara at Mid Valley to DO some shopping..muahaha! That's more than enough walking that I need in a day, plus the heels to give some extra discomfort *ouch*

Lara and me went to Topshop and Miss Selfridge for the special preview sale where we get an additional 20% discount on top of the discounted price..shopaholic heaven I tell you! But I'm not easily carried away..I only bought 1 item :)

Tomorrow might be another day of shopping. Hey, it's the Mega Sale. Might as well make full use of the discounts ;)

Dark side of the convo

I was so excited and happy about the convocation that I somehow erased the fact that there is one thing that I'm not very satisfied with. Did you know that they didn't arrange the graduates according to major? Worse still, they didn't mention our names! So it's like the graduates go on stage in random without the audience knowing who that person is. It didn't just happen to us but even those PhD graduates. Tsk tsk..come on MMU :(

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the full title of the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release on May 19, 2005. They're in the midst of post-production..can't wait! :D

The Great Convocation Day

Yeaaaaa...I've officially graduated!! It was a veeeeery meaningful day for me. Read on to find the link to the photos..

7.40 am - Made my way to Malacca.
It was  raining all the way. Good thing the traffic wasn't that bad.

9.30 am - Rehearsal/Briefing
I was 1/2 an hour late but I didn't miss that much though. I managed to find Idaura and the rest in the crowded hall.

10.45 am - Eating time/Robe collection
It was raining outside so we hung around the hall before making our way. I was in the car with Aya and Idaura. We conveyed 4 cars to an early lunch at this place called Lot something. Then went to get our robe at MMU.

2.30 pm - 2nd eating time
Went to Jaya Jusco with my parents. They had lunch while I had dessert. Mom did a bit of shopping and I bought myself a Peach Tart from Delifrance (yumm..)

9.30 pm - Dinner time with whole family
My brothers reached Malacca and we went out to find a place for dinner. We went round town looking for a nice place to eat while enjoying the view of Malacca at night time. Most places were closed and some weren't to our liking, so we went to this mamak place near MMU instead.

11 pm - Panic! Panic!!
I was getting everything ready for the next morning. I'm not going into detail with this one to avoid any trouble :P Lets just say something happened to the robe. But housekeeping isn't available til 7 the next morning. In much panicness, I called Idaura who was staying in A'Famosa Resort. She had some stuff that I needed to overcome this little trouble and thought I could go over to her place to get them. Unfortunately, she was still using it. With no more options, I had to wait until the next morning.

2 am - Still awake
Don't know why I couldn't get myself to sleep. It could be because of the anxiety, fear of being in trouble (robe) or the snoring by one of my family members :P

6 am - Got ready
While getting ready, I was thinking that Mer should be on the way by now. He took the bus from MMU Cyberjaya. He was offered to attend the convocation by the Assistant Dean but said that he didn't get to be on stage though.

7 am  - Called housekeeping
7.03 am - Housekeeping came! Yayyy!
7.25 am - Damage repaired
7.30 am - Off to Dewan Seri Negeri
7.50 am - Got a seat in the hall

8.15 am - Grand entrance by the representatives of the faculty
Those people were in blue robes, walking elegantly from the entrance to the stage. Wait a minute, who's that? To my suprise, it's MY MER! He said he didn't get to go on stage, but what was he doing there? Hahaha..I guess he was there to suprise me. Oh well, it worked alright ;)

9.50 am - My turn, my turn!
I made sure I looked OK, put on a smile and received my E-scroll from our Chancellor, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah :D Yayyyyyy! I tried to glance over to Mer but I couldn't find him amongst the other lecturers..hehe..

10.15 am - It's done
Joi was the last person to get his E-scroll and received a loud cheer from the crowd (that's the advantage of being last). He waved the E-scroll to the crowd and received a louder applause.

10.30 am - Pictures, pictures and more pictures!
After leaving the hall, I looked around for my family and found my brothers. I received a bunch of flowers from them :D We were then on a mission to locate my parents. After locating them, we took a few pictures. Mer was still no where in sight. I called him up and it turns out he was looking around for flowers..hahaha! A few minutes later, he turned up bringing a huge bouquet. I have 2! :D Spent the next hour taking pictures with many friends. Click on the picture above to see all pictures taken.

11.45 am - Check out
We finally left the convocation area to check out from the hotel. While packing, we had some snacks and Mer had Nescafe that mom made ;)

12.30 pm - Back to MMU
The 6 of us went for lunch at Ayer Keroh Golf and Country Club before going to MMU. I took my REAL E-Scroll, a studio photo of myself and returned the robe while Mer accompanied me. I was so worried that they might find something wrong with the robe. Good thing they weren't that observant and I received my RM100 deposit! Phewww..
Bought myself the VCD of that morning's session (they're really fast, aren't they?).

2.30 pm - Back home
We finally made our way back to KL. My brothers drove a separate car while Mer and me went with my parents. About half way through, my dad swerved all of a sudden. It turns out he was sleepy and thought that there was a car coming from the front. Mer offered to drive since my mom and me were both sleepy as well. So there it was, Mer on the driver's seat, me at the passenger's seat and my parents at the back.

4 pm - Granny's
We stopped at my granny's place to fetch my maid. We had tea and cokodok :D

5.30 pm - Everyone's back
We reached home and relaxed in front of the TV. Mer was waiting for his brother to fetch him but he was kinna busy with his friends.

8.45 pm - Mer's family
Since his brother took some time to get here, his mom and sister came to fetch him instead. I invited them for dinner over here ;) They stayed a bit longer to watch the Akademi Fantasia concert. It was nice,  8 of us watching it together while having some coffee and dessert :D

11 pm - Nice end to a nice day
Mer left with his family and I watched Something About Mary before surrendering to my comfy bed.

2 more days :D

Early tomorrow morning I'll be on my way to Malacca..woohoo! +

Sorry about that, it's my cat trying to say 'hi'..hehe. Aaaanyways, everything's set for the convo and I just can't wait! My dad got back this morning and is going about his everyday tasks already. My attire is just waiting for me and the camera's battery is fully charged :D

Look out for my post on Saturday/Sunday, where I'll share every single detail about the convo..not forgetting pictures too ;)

While I'm here, might as well share this moment with y'all..

That's my cat, Becky, after her attempt to handle the computer. She can't type (look at her attempt earlier), she can't help playing around with the mouse and she bites the speakers. She might as well sit on the monitor and look cute :P

Daddy dearest..

Today is the first time I experience having a family member admitted to the hospital. Early this morning my dad complained about a sharp pain. My mom brought him to the hospital where the doctor diagnosed it as kidney stones.

Alhamdulillah..he's okay now but he needs to stay there for a night for observation purposes. He should be able to go home tomorrow. Lucky thing it happened before my convocation. I can't imagine what chaos it would be if it were to occur on this weekend itself.

That reminds me, do come to my convocation at Dewan Seri Negeri in Ayer Keroh, Malacca this Saturday morning, 24 July '04 :D :D :D

Puteri Gunung Ledang

(Quicktime plugin required)

Check out this Puteri Gunung Ledang trailer. Wowww..I'm very impressed with the cinematography. It's like watching LOTR with Malaysian actors minus the fictitious characters. They have those fight/battle scenes with kris (Malaysian version of a sword) and horses and all. The synopsis as written in the website is lengthy, so here's how it goes, in short:

Princess of Majapahit fell in love with Melaka's great warrior, Hang Tuah. She left her palace and sailed across the sea with hopes to reunite with him.
Back home, Majapahit was attacked by Kingdom of Demak. Princess's brother (who happens to be the king), offers the princess's hand in marriage to the prince of Demak. But since she's not around, it's impossible to do so.
His plan B to defend Majapahit was to make an alliance (ala- Survivor) with the Melaka Sultanate by offering his sister's hand in marriage to the Sultan (I guess we can see now that the Majapahit king isn't a very nice person).
The princess of course doesn't agree to marry him but then the Sultan doesn't accept rejection. He sent Hang Tuah to head the royal delegation and to propose on his behalf (of all people). The lovestruck couple finally met. Being the loyal person he is, Hang Tuah must obey the Sultan (boo hoo).
The princess agrees to marry the Sultan (she doesn't have any other choice, does she?) ONLY IF he can solve 7 riddles. One of the riddles requires the Sultan to sacrifice his son's life. So how desperate is he to marry her? We'll just hafta wait and see..

I predict that the Princess and Hang Tuah will live happily ever after like in them fairy tales OR they will die together like Romeo & Juliet. There is also a cameo appearance by Dian Sastrowardoyo, the girl from AADC.

I look forward to watching it. It's not often that I watch local movies, so this shall be the select few..just like Buli. This one also has princesses..characters that I adore :D

The Chicks' Day

I met my chicky friends from school today. I initiated this get-together just to break away from the norm coz we usually go out to Uptown or Dharoos (a famous mamak place in DU). It was held at Alia's place since my house isn't big enough.

The menu:
Fried Rice (contributed by Alia)
Spagetti Bolognese (by Munirah)
Pasta (by me)
Tiramisu (by Heydeq)
One reason I decided to do this is because we hardly hang out like that. This is also a way to celebrate Alia's, Ina's and my graduation, not forgetting as to welcome Heydeq from UK. We would usually hang out at each other's place only during raya. Even so, we don't get the privilege to make that much noise (we girls are rather loud :P) or talk about things that we prefer to be said just amongst us without other people eavesdropping on us.
Today's get-together was what I imagined it to be. It was nice coz it's just the 7 of us chicks hanging out,  girl-talking all the way without a worry in the world :) We shared really interesting stories that I'm not gonna mention here since it is private and confidential..hehe!
Who knows when we'll get this chance again. Oh wait, we did plan another get-together soon where we'll stay overnight at some place. Weee..I can't wait! :D

My Preciousss

Today I sat for the Mensa test at their office. This is one of the requirements by TV3 for the management trainee application. I was the only one sitting for it so the invigilator had his full attention on me for the whole 1 hour. Mer waited for me while I was in the exam room.
After that we made our way home. Hey, that sounds as if it's OUR home :D To be more exact, we went back to MY house for a late lunch. I watched TV while he read the papers and then had we tea with my parents. After that we went to Shah Alam to meet my brothers over there.
It's nice to have him around here coz he's like part of the family. He fits just nice with us and people are happy being around him, especially mua ;)

English Proficiency Test

I attended the English Proficiency test at TV3 yesterday with 4 other girls. They have attended the interview and done the Mensa test. I wonder why I was offered later than them? By the way, does anyone know the job scope of a management trainee?

The test consists of Comprehension, Grammar, Writing and Oral. Most of the MCQs (Multiple Choice Question) were answerable and I fried all I can for the written part.

While we did our test, the examiner called us out of the room one at a time for the oral test. That got me thinking of the MUET speaking test. But this one was totally different. All we did was talk about normal stuff like family, boyfriend, university life and on a more serious note, my view about Noritta Samsudin.

My brothers were at work and my parents weren't able to fetch me, so I asked for a lift from Alia (who is also unemployed like mua ;) ). Her bf drove. That was the fiirsstt time I saw him although I've heard so much about him. We stopped for a drink at Jasema, my old favourite drinking place during school years, coz they promised to meet some friends there. It brought back good old memories of those years when Alia and me would go there every evening without miss. The waiter(sounds classy) that used to wait on us still works there after all these years.

I Start My Day With TV3

Made my way across the LDP to TV3 this morning. I thought it was gonna be a straight forward audition. But it turns out, I had to fill in a questionnaire, take a short IQ test and write an essay about myself.

After all those were done, went for my make up *blink*blink*

Then it was time for the audition. I was given a choice to read(news)in English or Malay. I chose the English text. When I got in the audition room (wearing the jacket provided earlier), they got the mic on me and I sat on a news-like set. The person in charge, Nizal, asked some questions and then requested that I read in Malay also. I only had 2 minutes to read through it and then they started shooting. I was obviously nervous, so there were a few mispronounced words that I HOPE was forgivable.

Then I moved to the set next to it, where I had to present an entertainment show in English and a Malay show called 'Remaja'. The English one was quite ok I think coz I did it before :D I had to do it twice though coz I was less lively the first time around(an effect from the nervousness :P). I was totally not prepared for Remaja, so I asked for a lil bit more time to prepare. When the camera started rolling, I have no idea what I said coz everything seemed to have jumbled up. I requested for a reshoot :P To my suprise, it went well without any jumbling words :D

Just as I was about to cool down from the audition, I was called in for an interview. I wasn't as nervous but still rather excited from the audition that somehow the interviewer said that she noticed that I wasn't being myself. So I took a deep breath and cool myself down before proceeding.

Once that was over, I made my way home for lunch. I have an English test to attend to, also at TV3, at 3 today. They postponed the Mensa test to another day. I don't know what to revise for this test. I hope my current understanding of English is sufficient ;)

An Interview With The Professor

I made it all the way to Malacca early this morning for an interview with MMU's President, Prof. Ghauth Jasmon, and 2 other observers. I got there at 9.30 a.m.(1/2 an hour late) and just in time too coz they were about to start the interview with the first person.

There were about a dozen people there, mostly MMU Malacca graduates from my batch. I met my old roomie, Zaisharimah. We were roomies during my Foundation Studies in Malacca Campus. Haven't met her since I left, which was more than 3 years ago. It was nice seeing her again :)

The interview took place in this meeting room with a bit of glass at the door. So we (those waiting for our turn) could see their expression. We couldn't exactly listen to what they were saying but they laughed a lot throughout all the interviews. We wondered what was so funny. We inquired those who were already interviewed about the questions they asked. So they shared their experience and most of them said,"Banyak mengarut." (a lot of nonsense)

I was the last person in, which was around 1.45 p.m. I was hungry, cold and tired of waiting but brushed it all off once I stepped into the room. The interview started with the basic questions, like: Are you interested in this position?

There was a piece of paper in front of me with 2 questions that I have to answer. The first question was the interesting one: (long explanation about US's power compared to Malaysia's.) If you were to advice the PM about making Malaysia more powerful than US, what would it be?

So I fried(goreng) a lot about education (just to stay relevant). Then he said,"US has 11 times more people than us. How can the country increase the population?" I knew where he was heading to coz the others were asked the same question too. So I gave some suggestions from making more babies to having more match making companies. He asked how many children should a family have on average and I suggested 6 (just to exaggerrate). He asked further,"So you're gonna have 6 children?" I replied,"Kalau larat" (If I can manage) and that got them laughing :P

When I ran out of ideas on ways to increase population, I said polygamy (that was what he wanted to hear, as informed by the others). He asked about the kind of husband I want and if I would agree if he were to practice polygamy. He was suprised by my answer coz I said I would agree. If I didn't, then he might leave me for the other person which would make things a lot worse for the kids (if any).

Overall I would say that it went well. I think they only wanted to see how we handle the questions. That's why there weren't many serious ones. And tomorrow's another day filled with job-opportunity-related activities. Wish me luck ;)

Al- Fatihah..

My friend, Lartz, lost her mother to cancer yesterday. I hope she'll be strong and able to hang in there. Al-Fatihah..

Another agenda on the calender

I received another phone call from TV3 at 8 p.m. yesterday (they work hard ey?). This time I have to attend 2 tests, English and Mensa. They just happen to be on the same day as the audition. Apparently, this is for management training and has nothing to do with the audition. So when Tuesday comes, I'll be spending my day at TV3. Auditioning in the morning and sitting for tests in the evening.

I just confirmed my attendance for MMU's interview. I'll be leaving for Malacca first thing early Monday morning. I wonder what kind of questions they will ask. I hope nothing on general knowledge or those technical stuff..I'm no good at them. I bet they'll ask questions like how I can contribute to the university or my expectations and stuff like that. Gotta get myself prepared with a good and professionally-interesting answers :D

To add toppings to a haagan dazz ice cream, I received a phone call from MMU asking me to come for an interview next week as well! This is so overwhelming. After over 3 months of nothingness and pure relaxation, I get 2 opportunities at the same time! :D But the downside of the MMU interview is that I have to go all the way to Malacca. Looks like Malacca will meet me twice this month ;)

Additional notes for the day

I'm a BIIIG fan of 8TV and last week I decided to send my resume to them just in case they have any kind of vacancies. I received a call from TV3 (their parent company) this evening, asking me to come for an audition next week. Eek! I was so shocked that I forgot to ask what it is for. This kinna reminds me of that Channel 9 incident. I shall call them up soon so that I get all the details clear and not make the same mistake again.

A few nights ago, I had a chat with my friend, Rahmat, the heir to my throne back then(I'm referring to Bowling Club President's post..hehe). He's this boyband-looking, rugby-playing guy with an pretty good sense of humour. I don't have his picture though, but if anyone's interested, please lemme know coz he's blaming his singleness to me for I don't know what reason..ehehe!
Actually, he reminded me to mention his name in here. So there you go, Rahmat. I've mentioned it, twice even! :P

Princess Iryn ;)

Watch Prince & Me with Idaura today. It's a rather draggy chick-flick with an expected storyline. Here's how it goes (skip to the last 2 paragraphs if you're planning to watch this movie)..

Prince who wants to live a normal kid's life meets girl - they fall in love - kantoi that he's a prince - she feels cheated and walks away - suddenly realises she's making a big mistake - went on the next plane to the prince's country - he proposed - they live happily ever after.

That was what I thought..but it didn't end there.

She has to prepare to be queen since the prince is gonna takeover the country, can't cope with the pressure and decides to back out - she walks away(again) - oops, toilet break *blushes* - the credits roll in with them stuck in a liplock in the background. Oh no, movie ended!

Idaura filled me in: This time the prince comes back for her and says a rather corny line that goes something like: "I'll wait for you to be ready as a queen no matter how long it takes." - The End

I'm rather intrigued with the royal life. I don't know how the local royals are like, but I like the idea of living in a castle, wearing nice clothes, beautiful jewelry, being served 24/7, being royally-prim-and-proper at dining tables, go horseback riding on my white horse named Dutchess at the royal ranch..oops, I just entered the daydream-zone *snapping out of it*

As a young kid, I was very much influced by Disney's princesses. I even played Umbrella Princess(Puteri Payung) at my kindergarten play..haha! Now I'm still a sucker for royal-like movies like Princess Diaries and this one. Other chick-flicks to look out for are Princess Diaries 2 and Ella Enchanted - both staring Anne Hathaway ;)

Niece dearest

Remember my niece who has been hanging out with me for the past few months?
Well, it's her birthday today! I'm glad to see her grow from diaper-age til the adult she is now ;)
Happy 21st Birthday, Intan!

By the way, she's single. Anyone interested, lemme know..hehe..

I'm all set for the convocation. I have my attire, paid for the robe, booked the hotel and received the invitation card and car sticker today :D I'm one happy girl..weeee! Mer is gonna try to be in the hall and who knows maybe on stage too! I really hope he'll be able to get in coz it will add more joy to that joyful day :)

Here's another picture to share. It's a picture of Idaura, me and Iza in the exam hall after our very last final paper of the final sem of the final year (just felt like emphasizing :P). At the background you can see the invigilator collecting the statistics book and further back are the students leaving the hall.
This is one precious picture, ain't it?

Meet Becky

I just have to share this really cute picture. This is my cat, Becky, keeping me company while I'm online. The speaker located at the top right has 2 (now 3) small holes in them caused by her bites when I played some sounds of cat meows :D

What sports?

This whole week, I only left the house 3 times. The rest of the time I was at home in front of the pc. Yes, I don't do much sports :P

I remember the time when it was a MUST for me to go out every evening. I would never miss doing some kind of sport back then. Let me recall..I did some cycling (with chun chick Alia hitching a ride), badminton (used my neighbour's gate as the net), netball (with all my chun friends at school), field hockey (we girls had the chance to play at the Tun Razak Stadium though we weren't all that good). One girl once hit my leg with a full swing of her hockey stick when my shin guard had earlier gone out of place. The lump didn't go away for months. I remember Alia being hit by the ball on her head *ouch* She must've had a massive headache.

The most interesting of all, I once played football at school during a match between form 5 classes. It was so much fun coz all girls didn't know how to play and were making fool of ourselves. I guess the guys had more fun laughing at us..haha!

My favourite of all - rollerblading. My dad bought me a pair of rollerblades in 1992 (I was 10 that time). It was considered as an upgrade for me coz I used to play with the then 9-year-old rollerskates that once belong to my brothers. I had a group of friends who joined me every evening to go around the playground. I was so into it that I even entered a few races that were held around KL. I once entered a marathon that started at the Merdeka Square and ended at the Lake Garden. It was nice having a chance to blade on the usually-busy-road (don't know the name) instead of being in a car. It was a big deal for me coz I hardly join marathons ;)

The movie that inspired me as a rollerblader was Airborn and Mighty Ducks 1-3. There were a lot of rollerblade stunts that I attempted to follow. Believe it or not, used to jump over stairs along the shoplots here in TTDI and I never broke a bone :D

Those movies also got me started to rollerhockey. I used to join some of the guys back then at the TTDI badminton court (now a community hall). One time I was playing at the parking lot as a practice session for a game against some other team. The goaly reached out his hockey stick and I just happened to go pass it and puffff! - I fell like on the ground Superman style. Did I mention that the only protective gear I had on were a pair of old knee-pads that didn't protect much? I think that was the worse one - I still have the scar as a reminder. But that little accident didn't stop me from playing the next day :D

Back to the present. Now that I have a lot of free time, I still play games - Yahoo games that is :D The last time I did some kind of sport was in February this year, where I decided to join the Faculty of IT netball team for MMU's Sports Carnival. That's because I didn't want to regret later on for not participating in outdoor sports during my university life. That day (final sem of my final year) was the first time I went to the field in my 3 years being in MMU Cyberjaya. Well, it's never too late for anything :)

So when am I gonna start working out again? I don't know for certain. Maybe when I start gaining unneccessary weight. As for now, I don't think it's critical enough. Or is it?

Before I end, I have a birthday wish to make. This time to my friend, Iskandar "The Dewa" Shah.. ;)
Happy 22nd Birthday, Is!
